When can you file a consumer complaint against Google?
Under the Consumer Protection Act 2019 you can complain about a deficiency in service — for example a wrongly disabled paid account, withheld AdSense earnings, or a billing error on Google Ads. If you paid for or earned money through the service, you are a “consumer”.
Which forum, and how to file
- Send a written notice to Google India Pvt Ltd first, stating the deficiency and what you want.
- Choose the forum by value — the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission handles most individual claims.
- File online via e-Daakhil (the national consumer e-filing portal) or in person. Court fees are low, and you can represent yourself.
- Claim compensation for the deficiency, plus for mental agony and costs.
